Principal's Message

Dear Jesse Bethel Jaguar Community,

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this welcome back letter to you as Principal of Jesse Bethel High School. I am honored to continue to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition of education and social, emotional, and academic support to Vallejo students. I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than twenty- five years, and have worked with a variety of students ranging in age from kindergarten through college-aged learners. I have enjoyed my past experiences as a football and baseball coach, secondary history teacher, and co-administrator, and bring a diverse background of skills to JBHS. My most recent administrative experiences were serving as an Elementary and Middle School Principal in Yolo and Solano Counties, where I had the pleasure of working with a diverse population. I am excited and eager to continue to strive to work with students, staff, families, and community leaders to further improve Jesse Bethel High School, and to work closely with you as a partner in education to ensure your student’s success.

Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established by JBHS by building strong relationships with parents, students and community partners. We will focus on making our school a safe and conducive environment for learning, using Professional Learning Communities to drive significant achievement gains, embedding Common Core skills throughout the curriculum, examining data to focus instruction and remediation, and to provide consistent implementation of the curriculum in a rigorous manner so that we can continue to increase all of our students achievement.

All of us at Jesse Bethel High School are eager and excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever in 2019-2020. This year is going to be amazing as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections. As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors - teachers, students and parents - are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. I have an open-door policy and I welcome your input. Please feel free to call (extension 51012) or email me (rcusi@vallejo.k12.ca.us) me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year.

I look forward to working with you as a team to help each student at Jesse Bethel High School meet their goals and have a successful school year!

Go Jags!
Dr. Ramon Cusi
